Steel Quoits 2008

For the few people still playing Steel Quoits we again had a successful busy season playing league games and the historic Suffolk knockout cups. The number of CAMRA members who play the sport has dwindled over the past ten years, so I feel it is about time to encourage new younger members to come along and see what the game is all about by joining in at the Emperor, Norwich Road, Ipswich.

From the beginning of April 2009 we will once again be practising on Thursday evenings on the beds behind the Emperor pub. In 2008 we entered a team into the Hadleigh League, which played on Sunday mornings and the Stoke by Nayland League, which played early on Saturday evenings.

The knock out cups organised by the County of Suffolk Steel Quoits Association are also played on Sunday mornings, interspersed between the Hadleigh League games.

If people come along to practise evenings at the pub and become competent players, then we can fit them in to play league games and become more experienced.

In April 2009 we will also be able to publish the dates for all next year’s league and Knockout Cup competitions.
