Burnt down, this 18th century hotel stood on the site of the original Westhorpe Hall, which had been a residence of Mary Tudor, who died there.
A report in the Ipswich Journal** of February 1860 states that :
John Seaman, of Westhorpe, was charged with having his alehouse open for the sale of beer during prohibited hours, and convicted in the penalty of £1 3s 6d and costs at the 28th February 1860 Hartismere Petty Sessions
