This pub is under threat; West Suffolk Camra are campaigning to save it. When visited in June 2013 all signage had been removed.
We're told by a village resident that the person who has purchased the pub is determined to live in it without reopening it,even if he can't get planning permission for change of use.
On the village outskirts, close to the historic coppiced woodland of the Suffolk Wildlife Trust stands this beautifully restored Victorian free house and country restaurant. The comfortable and attractive interior is fronted by a glazed dining area. The separate public bar has a woodblock floor, wood burning stove and pine seating.
The restaurant offers pub food plus A La Carte English. They welcome walkers and cyclists, welcome dogs and have B&B & campsite (soon). Open mike nights once a month, Bingo on Sundays twice a month and quiz nights on a Sunday twice a month. Service throughout is excellent.
In winter months they have open fires in the Snug and the Lounge. Large beer garden with petanque (boule) pitch & soon to have Quoits and Horse Shoe pitch.
