Wrentham Dog & Partridge?

putative

Though the Dog & Partridge is mentioned in Alfred Hedges' 1976 book, "Inns and Inn Signs of Norfolk and Suffolk", we know nothing else about this pub. It may perhaps be an older name for one of the Wrentham pubs we list, but we don't know which, though it's evidently not the Horse & Groom, as that pub is also mentioned in the same book.

However, we have noticed that Hedges' geography is often somewhat suspect. For example, he talks of a Compasses pub in Blythburgh - almost certainly referring to the one in nearby Wenhaston. So it's possible this pub was actually elsewhere, though as the nearest Dog & Partridge we know of was in Ipswich (and that's not mentioned in records after about 1901), quite where he got it from is a mystery.
