Now residential, the building has parts dating from the 15th and 17th centuries. It appears to have fallen into a state of semi-dereliction, with parts of the walls having been covered with black plastic for some time.

A report in the Ipswich Journal** on Jul-13 in 1850 when John Pipe was the landlord states that :

"John Harvey stole half a crown from the landlord. Found guilty and received a sentence of transportation of 10 years."
