A report in the Ipswich Journal** on 20 Jul in 1867 states that :

Waterloo Private Hotel, Princes Street, Ipswich. Auction of the excellent & nearly new furniture of the Commercial Room, Coffee Room, Private Parlours, 16 bed-rooms, Kitchen Requisites etc, the greater portion of which have been supplied within a year.

Norwich Union branch office moved several times in Ipswich before taking up residence, in 1928, at 12a Princes Street in the building which had previously been the Waterloo Hotel***
