A report in the Ipswich Journal** in Sep 1840 states that :
To be sold by auction, Lot 7, the Heart of Oak, beer house, Duke Street, Ipswich, now let to Mr Cuthbert, at £20 per annum, where a large trade is carried on; the cottages and yard at the back, now occupied by Mullet and others; these cottages are partly damaged by the late fire, but might be put into good repair at a trifling expense.
A report in the Ipswich Journal** of August 1860 states that :
To be sold by auction: Lot 4. The old established and well accustomed Inn, with yard and premises known as the "Heart of Oak" and a dwelling house adjoining, in the occupation of George Levett.
