A busy local with a long established food trade. Now a freehold establishment with their focus being on home-cooked British pub food and real ales.

The pub features a weekly guest ale straight from the barrel as well as the house regulars - Adnams Broadside and Southwold bitter. On-site free WiFi and baby changing facilities. Credit cards accepted.

The Chequers sign is an ancient sign probably brought to England by the Romans. Later the sign became associated with a money table e.g. an exchequer or type of chessboard. Some pubs displayed the sign to indicate that they would change money or acted as bankers in some way.
