The Cross Bows is not mentioned in the 1909 Rates book, so must have closed before then.
No reference to this pub has been found after the 1871 census, so it probably closed before 1881.
The inn was purchased in 1747 by the Earl of Stradbrooke of Henham Estate from a Brewer named Smith from Halesworth. The inn was empty during the mid 1960's when it was converted by Henham Estate workers into 3 separate cottages, of which I own two.
Many Thanks to Stuart Downes.
The pub is shown on this old OS map from about the end of the 19th century. larger map
