We know very little about this pub and this auction in 1856 (as listed below) may have resulted in it ceasing to be a pub?
A report in the Bury & Norwich Post & Suffolk Herald** on 21 May in 1856 states that :
Auction on behalf of the late Mr James DAKIN, to sell the Conquering Hero Beer House, in Shilling Street, Lavenham, with new brick-built cottage & Garden ground in the rear, together with an estimated value of £15 per annum, in this lot, will be included the brewing plant, utensils & fixtures.
