A report in the Ipswich Journal* in 1883 (Feb-13) when George Hubbard was landlord states:
Hubbard was called from his bed at 6.15am by 3 men that he then served with beer. The 3 were later arrested for the theft of 11 pheasants from the larder of Brettenham Hall.
According to A Survey of Suffolk Parish History, the pub was destroyed by fire in 1912.
