It is understood that this building (or possibly part of it) was a pub at some time in the distant past. A sign on the building just says "The Pigeons", so perhaps that was its name.

No mention of a pub here appears in any of the 20th century licensing records we've seen and the 1909 Rates book mentions the house by name but without mentioning it being licensed, so if it was a pub, it was before this time. Similarly, no definitive pub appears on any OS map as early as 1882, so if it was a pub, it was a long time ago.

Pigeon Lane appears on old maps as "Upper Street" and was apparently once the main street in Washbrook.
