Closure date unknown, but the most recent Eye licensing records we've seen show it open at least to 1967.
The name Tumbledown Dick is believed to refer to Richard Cromwell, son of the Lord Protector. Though it has also been claimed that it refers to a once-popular dance.

Tumbledown Dick was a nickname for Richard Cromwell, son of Oliver Cromwell. Perhaps there was a connection between him and Wortham?
