The pub is shown on OS maps at least as late as 1905, but is not shown on the 1952 sheet, so presumably closed between 1916 (the most recent directory entry found) and 1952.
A report in the Bury & Norwich Post** on Jun-03 in 1873 when John Sturgeon was the landlord states that:
Granted an extension of two hours on Whit Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
A report in the Ipswich Journal** on Feb-13 in 1883 when Mary Ann Sturgeon was the landlord states that:
Sturgeon bought 4 coombes of barley from a customer for 13s a coombe not knowing that the corn had been stolen.
