The pub is shown on OS maps at least as late as 1966. By the 1975 sheet, it's shown as "George Hill House" so presumably closed some time between those dates.
A report in the Ipswich Journal*** on 30 May in 1804 states that :
Auction of the George, Stanton, together with barn, stable & 8 acres of rich arable Land, in a high state of cultivation, let for the term of 7 years, to Edward RANDALL, an old & exceptional tenant, which expires at Michaelmas 1808. The above is mostly freehold.
A report in the Bury & Norwich Post** on Jun-03 in 1873 when William Blizzard was the landlord states that:
Granted an extension of two hours on Whit Tuesday night.
