Burned down. The pub appears on OS maps at least as late as 1958, but seems to be gone by the 1974 sheet, so presumably closed between those dates.

A report in the Bury & Norwich Post** on Jan-14 in 1862 when William Gathercole was the landlord states that he was fined 1s with 8s costs for serving out of hours on Christmas day.

A report in the Ipswich Journal*** on 22 Mar in 1887 states that :

Mr Eugene WELLS, bought the Half-Moon Inn, Rattlesden for £450.
