Now residential, known as Huntsman & Hounds Cottage. The pub is shown on the 1957 OS map but has gone by the 1975 sheet, so probably closed between those dates.

The building dates from the early 16th century but has been much altered and extended.

A report in the Ipswich Journal** in Jun 1835 states :

On the 4th June 1835 an inquest was held on the body of John Poppy, a youth aged between 17 and 18, the son of Mr Edward Poppy, landlord of the Huntsman and Hounds, Metfield. The deceased had been seized with a fit of epilepsy, and falling from where he was sitting, died of suffocation.
