The New Market Inn is shown at this location on the 1884 OS map. It has subsequently been demolished.
It's also listed at Compasses Lane & Mariners Street in 1865.
The Compasses, 2 Compass Street may have been incorporated in to this pub sometime after 1881, although number 2 was uninhabited in 1891. The Newmarket, which may be this pub, was listed at number 2 in 1910.
