A report in the Ipswich Journal** on 10 Aug in 1861 states that :
Henry SOUTHGATE, landlord of the Alma Beer House, Ipswich, was accused of aiding & assisting the removal of goods to prevent a legal distress for rent, after they had been taken to his house.
Demolished shortly after closure. The pub was reportedly on the east side of Bell Lane, a short way north from the junction with Austin Street.
Closure date recorded in the Borough Police licensed premises register 1903-1923.

Little Wonder won the Derby in 1840 at odds of 50:1 so inspired many pubs and others to adopt the same name.
