Also listed at New Market (may be an earlier pub of same name in another location, especially as there isn't even a building at this location on the 1884 OS town plan or any map up to 1890. It only appears (as a pub) on the 1905 sheet).
A pub appears at this location as late as the 1927 OS map, but seems to have gone by the 1969 sheet (those available in between are not sufficiently detailed) so it seems likely the pub closed between those dates.
It would seem that a pub of the same name (possibly in a different location) was closed in 1880 as a report in the Ipswich Journal** in Sep 1880 states that :
The license for this house was not renewed at the last licensing day as it was being used as a private house. The magistrate's certificate had been issued in the past to Messrs. Morse and Woods but in the future certificates would only be granted to occupiers of the house.
