Now a farmhouse, the building dates from early/mid 16th century, with alterations around 1600.
Having examined the Hartismere licensing records from 1923 to 1962 and found no trace of this pub, we conclude it must have closed before 1923.
A report in the Ipswich Journal** on 19 Jun in 1847 states that :
Auction of the Grapes Inn, Bacton, with the dwelling house, farming buildings, premises & altogether 22a[cres] 0r[ods] 25p[erches] of superior arable & pasture land, occupied by Mr C. JENNINGS.
