By 1922 the pub had been converted into a Post Office and remains as a Post Office today. The license surrendered February 1920 according to the Borough Police licensed premises register.

The building dates from the 18th century or earlier.

We've seen one reference to this building as the Black Lion, though whether this is an older name or a mistake isn't currently known.

In 1888 listed at 53 Fore st, St Clements.

John Martin tells us:

My Great Grandmother Matilda Martin (later Wallace) ran the Bull & Dog in Fore Street in the late 1800s. When she re-married the family moved to the Lord Raglan on Woodbridge Road where she lived until the mid 1930s.
