Found closed with everything but the bar counter removed when visited late June 2015. In February 2016 it was announced that the building had been bought by the Bungay Castle Trust and was going to be turned into a museum and heritage centre.

A prominent town centre hotel which had 15 letting rooms and à la carte menu in the restaurant. There was live music at weekends.

The building dates from the early 18th century, though there was an inn on the site since the 16th century. The original building, along with much of the town centre, was destroyed in the Great Fire of Bungay in March 1688.
